oe Sibanyoni takes issue with questions about alleged extortion involvement

Mpumalanga taxi industry leader Joe Sibanyoni has taken issue with questions about his alleged involvement in extortion.

Sibanyoni is being cross-examined at the Madlanga Commission on a range of allegations, including links to organised crime.

Evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson is probing the facts around a multimillion-rand extortion case for a Mpumalanga tender.

Sibanyoni is currently facing criminal charges in this regard.

He claims his involvement in the tender was to provide financial contribution, although he's been unable to specify certain payments.

He's taken issue with Chaskalson's probe.

“If I were to be found guilty, I would blame Mr Chaskalson…and we are here in the commission just to assist, now he's trying me out. Get that just straight dates, where did you put the money?”
