The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate for Agege Federal Constituency, Mudashiru Obasa, has urged residents of the constituency to mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Obasa made the call on Wednesday while leading an APC mega rally at Amoo Field, Orile Agege, to officially flag off the partyโ€™s campaign in the constituency. In a statement made available by the DG campaign for both Agege and Orile-Agege, Pastor Johnson Babatunde on Thursday, adressing party supporters, the speaker urged them to take the campaign to households, markets, artisan groups, places of worship and community associations, saying the party should convert its numerical strength in Agege into increased electoral support. โ€œLet us join hands and make sure we deliver. It is not just about victory; we must surpass our previous votes. Sound it loud to everybody โ€“ all trade associations, artisans, tribes, religious and traditional leaders. We have the numbers, and we will pour it into the APC,โ€ Obasa said. He urged supporters to vote for President Bola Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, representing Lagos West, and himself as the partyโ€™s House of Representatives candidate for Agege Federal Constituency.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google The rally was attended by traditional and religious leaders, APC leaders and supporters, representatives of trade associations and artisan groups, as well as leaders of non-Yoruba communities. Obasa described the turnout at the rally, despite the midday heat, as evidence of the strength and cohesion of the APC in Agege. โ€œAgege is always one. And we will continue to be one. There is nothing wrong with our party in Agege,โ€ he said. He urged party members to remain focused on their campaign and not be distracted by reports, rumours or criticism from opponents. The speaker also appealed to political actors and supporters to maintain peace throughout the campaign and election period. โ€œWe must try to avoid conflict, because at the end of the day, the people will vote for their representatives โ€“ the people they truly want. Nobody can force anyone on the people,โ€ he said. Obasa charged the APC campaign structure in Agege to sustain its mobilisation efforts until election day, with particular emphasis on trade associations, artisans, religious groups, traditional institutions and community organisations. The APC chairmen of Agege and Orile-Agege, Alhaji Fatai Bisiriyu and Alaba Alashe, also urged party members to mobilise for the partyโ€™s candidates, including Tinubu, Hamzat, Adebule, Obasa, Gbenga Abiola for Agege Constituency I and Sule Sakiru for Agege Constituency II. The Chairman of Agege Local Government, AbdulGaniy Obasa, expressed confidence that the APC candidates would fulfil their campaign promises. His counterpart in Orile-Agege, Akinola Abiodun Idowu, also said the area would mobilise support for the partyโ€™s candidates in the 2027 elections.
