A 25-year-old man ended his life by jumping from a high-rise in Noida’s Sector 94 on Saturday (October 3, 2026), hours after he checked in to an Airbnb where he had been staying.
The deceased was identified as Sambhav Jain, a resident of Manesar. According to the police, he had checked into an Airbnb at the Supernova Society on Friday (October 2, 2026) and was scheduled to leave on Saturday (October 3, 2026).
Noida ACP Praveen Kumar Singh said the initial investigation indicated that Jain was under financial distress after taking a loan.
“He had taken a loan and was under financial distress. He was in touch with his father until moments before his death and had sent WhatsApp messages saying he did not want to live. He had also sent a video message before the incident, saying that he was distressed,” the officer said.
Police said Jain was on the outer side of the balcony railing when people nearby noticed him. Some workers carrying out air-conditioner repair work in a nearby flat tried to intervene and persuade him to come back. During the attempt, he reportedly told one of the workers that he was depressed.
Despite their efforts, he ended his life at around 11.30 a.m., police said.
A video of the moments before the incident showed Jain standing on the outer ledge of the high-rise as people on the ground watched anxiously. Bystanders could be heard alerting security personnel as efforts were made to prevent him from ending his life.
The police reached the spot after the incident and took the body into custody before sending it for postmortem examination. His family has claimed the body, police said.
During the preliminary inquiry, the police also found that Jain had allegedly sent a message to his father informing that he was going to end his life. He reportedly said that he was responsible for the decision.
The police are examining the circumstances leading up to his death and are gathering further information from his family.
