Nicolas Cage breaks silence on Ryan Gosling 'Ghost Rider' casting - Geo News

Ryan Gosling has received a fiery vote of confidence from someone who knows Ghost Rider better than most: Nicolas Cage.

Nearly two decades after playing Marvel’s supernatural biker, Cage is ready to see someone else take the wheel.

At the premiere of his new film Madden, the actor shared his thoughts on Gosling stepping into the role, and he had nothing but good things to say.

“Ryan’s going to do his thing with it and I’m looking forward to seeing it. Ryan knows how I feel about him as an actor; we’ve had nice conversations and we stay in touch. I was happy for him and wished him best of luck on his adventures and I look forward to seeing the movie,” Cage told The Hollywood Reporter.

Cage played Johnny Blaze in 2007’s Ghost Rider and returned for 2012’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now, Gosling is preparing to bring his own version of the flame-headed hero to the big screen.

The Barbie star made no secret of his excitement when Marvel announced the project at Comic-Con in July. “This is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time,” he said.

There’s also a personal connection: Gosling’s wife, Eva Mendes, starred opposite Cage in the original film and has reportedly supported her husband taking on the character.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the new Ghost Rider movie is currently scheduled for July 28, 2028. Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie is also in talks to play the villain.

Cage may have handed over the flaming motorcycle, but he clearly isn't rooting against its next rider.
