NFL officials were inconsistent with holding penalties in Broncos-Chiefs game - Broncos Wire

The Monday Night Football showdown between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs featured a few questionable holding penalties (and no-calls for other apparent holding offenses).

Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant was twice penalized for ticky-tackling holding fouls, one of which ManningCast commentator Peyton Manning dubbed "a weak call."

Those two penalties did not decide a 31-10 result, but Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce appeared to get away with a hold on quarterback Patrick Mahomes' touchdown run. Later in the game, Kelce benefited from what appeared to be a hold by Rashee Rice on Kelce's long catch-and-run in the third quarter.

To reiterate, the questionable holding penalties (and non-penalties) did not ultimately decide the game, but the officiating seemed inconsistent for those fouls.

With the win, Mahomes improved to 9-0 in games with Clay Martin as the head referee. With the loss, Denver dropped to 0-4 in its last four games officiated by Martin.
