NFL fans livid over terrible penalty called on Rams late vs. Broncos - Rams Wire

The Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos played one of the best games of the young season on Sunday night, a back-and-forth thriller that came down to the very end. The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but all anyone was talking about late in the game was a controversial penalty called on the Rams.

On a pivotal third-and-6 by the Broncos from the Rams' 11-yard line, Bo Nix attempted to throw the ball away. Josh Wallace was in coverage on Pat Bryant and seemingly came up with a terrific interception near the sideline.

However, the official threw a flag on Wallace and called pass interference, giving the Broncos a free first down to extend the drive. After seeing the replay, fans were irate that a flag was thrown for pass interference because any contact between Wallace and the receiver looked to be incidental.

After all, Wallace has a right to play the ball, too. Here's the play in question.

The Broncos wound up scoring a touchdown a few plays later to take a 30-26 lead.

Predictably, fans were livid and shared their reactions on social media.
