Nepal woman pushes dog off bridge as it resists, heartbreaking video sparks outrage
A woman in Nepal's Bajhang was seen forcibly pushing a dog into a river from a bridge, with the disturbing act captured on camera and triggering demands for police action.
The video showed the woman, dressed in a red kurta-salwar, holding the dog with both hands as she stood on a bridge above Seti Gandaki river. The frightened animal appeared to resist as she tried to move it toward the edge, but she held on and eventually pushed it into the river below.
The dog could then be seen struggling helplessly as it got carried away by the river’s current. The circumstances surrounding the incident and what happened to the animal afterwards remained unclear.
The video circulated on social media, where users strongly criticised the woman and called for her arrest and legal action.
Police launched an investigation to identify the woman seen in the footage. Officials said the incident had come to the police’s attention and that an investigation was underway.
The police said they were working to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify the woman involved. They added that legal action would be taken once the investigation was completed.
