NCAA: EJ Castillo stars as EAC marches to second win at LPU's expense - GMA Network
EJ Castillo dropped 23 points as Emilio Aguinaldo College notched its second straight win at the expense of Lyceum of the Philippines University, 89-79, in the NCAA Season 102 on Friday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.
The Pirates held the early lead, scoring 26-20 in the opening period, before the Generals erupted in the second quarter, outscoring LPU, 35-18, to take a 55-44 lead at halftime.
LPU fought back in the third period, trimming the deficit to just one point, 65-64, heading into the final frame. EAC responded with a 6-2 run to build a 71-66 lead early in the fourth.
The two teams then traded baskets for much of the final period, with the Pirates taking a 79-78 lead with 3:02 remaining. However, the Generals closed the game with an 11-0 run as LPU ran out of gas in the final minutes.
Aside from Castillo, Wilmar Oftana contributed 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Jude Bagay added 12 points as EAC improved to 2-3.
Matthew Rubico posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Roger Ondoa added 20 points for LPU, which absorbed its third straight loss to drop to 1-4.
