NBI flags 47 flood control projects in Davao City - GMA Network
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag on Thursday said they received documents regarding nearly 50 alleged ghost and substandard flood control projects in Davao City.
He said 47 out of 100 flood control projects in one district were โsomewhatโ flagged but later added that only six of the 47 were โclearlyโ problematic.
โWe received documents from the Department of Public Works that there are projects na medyo naka red-flag,โ Matibag said in an ambush interview.
(We received documents from the Department of Public Works showing that there are projects that are somewhat red-flagged.)
โMerong ghost, merong substandard, merong isang coordinates lang with five budgets na iba-iba lang โyung title,โ he added.
(There are ghost projects, there are substandard projects, and there is one set of coordinates with five different budgets, with only the titles being different.)
Matibag said that P1.9 billion in the district of Davao Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte were awarded to a contractor owned by an individual that is close to them.
The director said the bureau will issue subpoenas to three contractors as well as the Department of Public Works and Highways.
When asked if the the NBI will issue a subpoena to Duterte, Matibag said no.
โHindi naman siya, โyung DPWH naman. HIndi ko nga alam kung bakit siya nagagalit. Ang papatawag naman natin โyung contractor at โyung DPWH,โ he said.
(Itโs not him, itโs the DPWH. I donโt even know why he is getting angry. The ones we will summon are the contractor and the DPWH.) โ BM, GMA News
