MK Party organiser allegedly shot dead in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of local elections - IOL

The MK Party has confirmed the death of its Ugu regional organiser, Lastborn Shazi, who was reportedly shot at his home in Umthwalume, KwaZulu-Natal.
This come with just 24 hours to go before South Africans head to the polls for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
It is alleged that Lastborn Shazi, MK Party's Ugu Regional organiser, was shot by an unknown group of people at his home yesterday night.Β
"We do not know the whole story around the incident, but we can confirm the news about the death of our member Lastborn Shazi. We are shocked and saddened by the news," he said.
Mlengane described Shazi as a hardworking and loyal member. He said Shazi had a proven track record of changing people's lives.Β
"His dedication, commitment and service to our movement will never be forgotten. We send our condolences to the MK Party members, his family and friends," he said.Β
Mlengane said Shazi will be missed in the MK party.Β
Police did not respond by the time of publication.Β
