Micah Parsons: New York Giants 'are going to be a really good team' - Giants Wire

There has been plenty of buzz surrounding the New York Giants after their 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to open the season. The Giants have earned well-deserved praise for the statement win, especially after taking down a division rival that had beaten them in 14 of their last 16 meetings.

That praise continued on Tuesday when Green Bay Packers All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, who spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys, offered his thoughts on the Giants.

"The Giants are going to be a really good team. From what they showed in the second half, they allowed the Cowboys to touch the football two times," Parsons said. "Do you know how impressive that is? I think Jaxson Dart has elevated his game, his control. He's showing people how smart he is; his intelligence at the line of scrimmage.

"That was as damn good as I've seen in the NFL, bro. I'm more excited about seeing what he does the rest of the year than about their team, because they are going to go as he goes."

Dart was impressive in his first game under the new coaching staff and the opener of his sophomore season. The Giants will only be as good as their quarterback play, and while it was just one game, Dart appeared a bit less reckless in Week 1. There were still some designed runs, as the Giants have no interest in abandoning one of the parts of Dart's game that makes him effective.

The quarterback also looked more comfortable under center than he did as a rookie. That could be the result of improved pass protection from rookie guard Francis Mauigoa and fullback Patrick Ricard, or the chemistry Dart seems to have developed with tight end Isaiah Likely. Either way, he is playing with a new sense of confidence.

It will be interesting to watch Dart's growth as the season unfolds under head coach John Harbaugh, who previously coached a similarly mobile quarterback in Lamar Jackson. Dart's second season is off to a strong start, and it is something Giants fans should feel excited about as the year progresses.
