Marcos to name new chief justice this week — Palace - GMA Network

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to name the new Supreme Court (SC) chief justice this week, succeeding outgoing Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Malacañang said Wednesday.

“Ang lahat naman ng kanditato para maging chief justice ng Supreme Court may kanya-kanyang kagalingan, kanya-kanyang integridad, at ina-announce naman 'yung susunod na chief justice this week. Hindi na natin pangungunahan ang ating Pangulo,” Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said at a press briefing.

(Each SC chief justice candidate has their own capabilities and integrity, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will announce the next chief justice this week. We will not preempt him.)

In October, the Judicial and Bar Council submitted to Marcos its shortlist of nominees for the position of SC chief justice and associate justice.
