LRT-LINE 2 ADVISORY: LRT-2 limits operations after lightning strike; normal ops resume on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 - GMA Network

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) on Tuesday temporarily implemented provisionary service after a lightning strike damaged and cut a catenary wire at the Antipolo Station.

In an advisory around 3 p.m., the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said train operations are currently limited to the Recto Station - Araneta Center-Cubao Station route and vice versa.

The LRT-2 management urged commuters to monitor its official social media accounts for updates on the status of the train operations.

The agency apologized for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their understanding.

By late Tuesday evening, the LRTA announced that repairs on the catenary wire has concluded.

Full line operations for LRT-2 will resume tomorrow, September 23, 2026 with the first trip from Antipolo to Recto will start at 5 a.m.

"Humihingi ng paumanhin ang Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) dahil hindi na nakaabot ang operasyon para sa huling biyahe ngayong araw," the company said.
