Lindsay Lohan recreates iconic scene for Mean Girls Day - USA Today
Lindsay Lohan treated fans to a special social media post on Saturday, Oct. 3, which is celebrated by many as Mean Girls Day.
In a video posted Saturday morning on TikTok, Instagram and X, Lohan and "Mean Girls" director Mark Waters recreated the scene from the 2004 comedy that led to the unofficial holiday.
During the movie, a voiceover scene shows Lohan's character Cady Heron and her crush, Aaron Samuels, played by Jonathan Bennett. His character turns around to Lohan, whose character's desk is behind him. "On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was," she says.
"It's October 3rd," Lohan says gleefully in the scene, which has led to an annual online celebration of the movie on Oct. 3 over the decades.
After their reenactment, both Lohan and Waters have a laugh. They are currently working on a new romantic film for Netflix entitled "Return to You," which stars Lohan and Henry Golding. Waters, who also directed "Freaky Friday," starring Lohan, is directing the new Netflix flick. Lohan is also producing the film.
The video has been viewed by more than 4 million on TikTok, more than 2 million on X and earned 1.4 million likes on Instagram, where it also caught the attention of Bennett, who replied on the Instagram post: “This made me miss you two so much!”Thousands more have viewed the video on Facebook.
The movie "Mean Girls," written by Tina Fey, follows Lohan's character, a homeschooled student who transfers to a high school ruled by all-girl clique The Plastics, played by Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried.
The film has become a fixture in pop culture, providing plenty of memes from iconic scenes that continue to dominate social media timelines decades later. Other popular moments are "You Go Glen Coco!," "Stop trying to make fetch happen," and "I want my pink shirt back!"
