Level 5 Emergency Warning for landslides issued

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a Level Five Emergency Warning for Oshima Town in the Izu Islands, Tokyo Prefecture. It's the highest level of alert on the agency's scale of one to five.

A Level Five Emergency Warning means it's extremely likely that landslides may have already occurred.

Agency officials are urging people to take immediate action and evacuate to safer locations. That includes moving as far as possible from cliffs and streams, or to higher floors of buildings if going to designated evacuation sites is considered too dangerous.
