Lambretta is back at EICMA 2026 with an electric scooter. Want one?
Electric scooters are rapidly gaining ground in the market, with almost every major manufacturer looking to establish a presence in this growing segment. While the Bajaj Chetak has successfully revived the retro charm, the likes of the TVS iQube, Vida VX2 and Ather are pushing the envelope with their modern offerings. Now, Lambretta has joined the electric revolution, proudly showcasing the Elettra S at EICMA and marking its entry into the electric scooter space.
At first glance, the Lambretta Elettra S immediately evokes memories of the brand's glorious past. Elements such as the fixed-type front mudguard, trailing-link front suspension and rectangular headlamp are clear nods to its heritage. The scooter also gets a retro-inspired digital instrument cluster that retains the iconic shape of the original design while incorporating modern digital technology.
One of the highlights is the floating seat design, which blends beautifully with the flowing side panels and adds to the scooter's distinctive character. The LED tail-lamp, however, is a more contemporary addition and departs from the styling of the original Lambrettas.
Powering the Elettra S is a PMSM electric motor that produces a peak output of 5kW. Riders get three riding modes β Eco, Normal and Sport β while the claimed top speed stands at 90kmph. The scooter is equipped with a 4.5kWh battery pack, with a claimed maximum range of 119km. Charging the battery takes a little over five hours.
There is little to doubt that I am a proper petrolhead. Grew up collecting scale models and still does so. The passion became a proffession decades back and from then on there has been no looking back. For a living I test vehicles using sophisticated data logging equipment and then crunch data to tell you the results and my verdict. I am also on the jury of the Indian Car of the Year and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year awards.
When not at work (which is rarely) I love tending and restoring old motorcycles and scooters which are all a part of my personal collection. And did I tell you that being fiercly Bengali I do not mind riding or driving hundreds of kilometers to get to my favorite curry!
