Lagos club robbery: Police arrest one, hunt accomplices
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the robbery of a clubber outside the Ghost and Spirit Lounge on Ekoro Road, in the Abule-Egba area of the state. The command also said efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the gang allegedly involved in the robbery. PUNCH Metro had gathered that the incident occurred around 5am on Saturday, September 26, 2026. A CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, showed a group of men standing around parked vehicles when a man dressed in a yellow polo approached one of them. Shortly afterwards, a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV pulled up on the opposite side of the road. The video generated reactions on social media, with users describing the incident as a robbery. Confirming the incident on Monday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, said one suspect had been arrested and identified the victim’s stolen property as a gold wrist chain and rings. He said, “On 26/09/2026 at about 0500hrs, information was received that some armed men, reportedly armed with an AK-47 rifle, drove into Ghost and Spirit Lounge, Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba, in a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV and robbed a male individual of his gold wrist chain and rings. “Investigation subsequently led to the arrest of Ezekiel Sunday Obi, male, 29 years, at about 0100hrs on 27/09/2026 at the Toll Gate, Lagos-Ogun boundary.” The CP said the police were intensifying efforts to arrest the other fleeing suspects and recover the exhibits. “Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and recover the exhibits,” he said.
