KTU Syndicate decides against approving proposal for Pro Vice-Chancellor

The Syndicate of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) on Thursday declined a recommendation by Vice Chancellor (V-C) Ciza Thomas to appoint a Pro Vice-Chancellor (PV-C) and instead decided to seek legal advice on the appointment process.

The V-C had reportedly included on the agenda of the Syndicate meeting a proposal to appoint Biju, a retired Professor of the Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, as the PV-C.

The Syndicate members pointed out that the university statute require a panel of candidates to be submitted for the appointment, and not a single name. As the V-C was unprepared to submit a panel of names, the Syndicate decided against approving the recommendation.
