The Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) has decided to conduct the state-level Summative Assessment-1 (SA-1) — mid-term examinations — for SSLC students from September 23 to 30.

“We have decided to conduct the state-level SA-1 for SSLC students of the 2026–27 academic year. This SA-1 will be conducted following the model of the preparatory examination. This will help in assessing the students’ academic progress to date. We have taken measures to conduct this examination in a highly organised manner, which will assist students in preparing for the final examination,” Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa said.

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) will prepare the question papers. Under the supervision of the Commissioner of Public Instruction, the specific question paper for the day — as per the schedule — will be uploaded to the respective high school headmaster’s school logins on the day of the exam. Subsequently, the headmasters of the respective schools must print the question papers and distribute them to the students.

Arrangements have been made to ensure that the downloaded question paper bears a watermark displaying the respective school’s code.

On the day of the examination, classes must commence at 9.15 a.m. The question paper is to be downloaded from the school login at 9.30 a.m. and printed between 9.45 a.m. and 10 a.m. The Commissioner has issued an order directing that the packets containing the question papers be handed over to the examination hall at 10.15 a.m.

The Department has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in offences such as leaking question papers from examination centres, copying during the exam, photographing question papers, circulating them on social media or WhatsApp, supplying cheat sheets, or engaging in any other form of examination malpractice.

The Department has also warned that the recognition of aided and unaided schools found to be involved in any malpractice will be permanently revoked.
