This is, of course, thanks to creator and showrunner Katie Dippold. There is truly no one else I know who would combine two such polar opposite genres—supernatural horror and workplace comedy—with an almost perverse glee. In fact, I sometimes wonder if she is challenging herself or challenging those she works with. I’ve landed on the former. To do what she did and does and will do—marry horror and humor with such deft ease and grace—sings of someone with incredible mastery of her craft.
Everyone in this business always talks of what “alchemy” will work. Katie Dippold laughs at these questions, and dons a pointed hat with a star and a moon on it as if she’s the sorcerer’s apprentice.
But actually ... Katie Dippold is the sorcerer. And she’s here to f-ck your algorithm.
