'Karachi's survival lies in new units'

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that the real survival and progress of Karachi and Pakistan lies in the creation of new administrative units. Presiding over a meeting at MQM Pakistan's central office in Bahadurabad, Siddiqui highlighted the current political and administrative situation of Karachi. Speaking on the occasion, senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar said that organising citizens beyond traditional politics and party affiliations for the rights of their areas is a very courageous and welcome step. He pointed out that the apprehensions and threats that MQM had highlighted decades ago for Karachi and its oppressed people are now part of the banners of Jamaat-e-Islami and other political parties, which proves that the demands made by MQM in the past were not just a party manifesto but an urgent need of Karachi and the whole of Pakistan. During the meeting, the participants openly discussed administrative units, municipal powers and public issues and raised various questions. Senior citizens, in light of their long experiences, reiterated their full support for the vision, stance and objectives of MQM and expressed their resolve to continue playing their role side by side in this struggle for the bright future of the city and future generations.
