Kalki 2898 AD team celebrates 'dreaming big' after winning 2 National Film Awards
Calling their double National Award win a validation of "dreaming big and taking chances," the team behind the sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD celebrated a landmark victory at the National Film Awards. The Nag Ashwin directorial picked up trophies for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Special Effects, marking a major milestone for high-concept, visual-effects-heavy Indian cinema.
The honours were presented at the official ceremony in New Delhi, where director Nag Ashwin and special effects supervisor Nitin Zihani Choudhary received the prestigious awards from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Following the ceremony, production banner Vyjayanthi Movies released an official statement expressing gratitude to the jury and audience. "Winning the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for the film is an immensely proud moment for all of us at Vyjayanthi Movies. To see a film that began with a bold and ambitious vision receive this recognition is deeply gratifying," the producers said.
Crediting the creative team and crew for executing the expansive cinematic world, the makers highlighted the collective effort behind the project. "From the very beginning, the director brought a uniquely imaginative vision to the film, and bringing that vision to life was a remarkable collective effort. The dedication, conviction and creativity of our cast and crew made it possible to build a world that audiences could experience and embrace," the statement read, describing the two honours as a "significant milestone."
Looking ahead to Kalki 2898 AD sequel, the production house noted that the accolades serve as motivation for the franchise's next phase. "For Vyjayanthi Movies, this is another cherished chapter in a journey spanning decades β one rooted in the belief that cinema is about dreaming big, taking chances and telling stories that stay with audiences. As the next chapter takes shape, we look forward to continuing to dream fearlessly and push the boundaries of storytelling," the statement read.
Anchored by a star-studded ensemble featuring actors Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone, Kalki 2898 AD blended the narrative of the epic Mahabharata with futuristic world-building.
