Justice Puthichira Sam Koshy of the Telangana High Court has been appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the HC with Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh relinquishing the office following his elevation as judge of the Supreme Court. In a notification issued on Monday, the Union government said the President of India appointed Justice Sam Koshy as the Acting CJ.
On September 28, the Supreme Collegium recommended elevation of Telangana HC CJ Aparesh Kumar Singh as judge of the Supreme Court. On Monday, the Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar as judge of the SC.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh did not hold the bench on Monday at Telangana HC. The traditional Full Court farewell meeting was not convened at the HC for him. As the Centre notified his appointment as SC judge, the CJ left for Delhi on Monday.
