Job interview lure ends in sexual assault

A young woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by three men after she was lured with the promise of a call-centre job interview in the Westridge area, police said on Tuesday. According to police, Simran Haroon told Westridge Police Station that her niece had been living with her for the past five months and was looking for employment During her job search, she came into contact with a man who identified himself as Arsalan. He allegedly asked her to come to Lane No 6, Peshawar Road, at 10pm on September 26, saying that her call-centre interview would begin at 11pm. The complainant said her niece travelled to Peshawar Road by an online cab. Her phone was later switched off, causing concern among her family. She returned home on September 27 and narrated what had allegedly happened. According to the complaint, Arsalan arrived in a black car to collect her and drove her around various streets for some time before stopping outside a house. He allegedly took her inside, where two other men were present. Arsalan allegedly told her that a man named Abbasi would conduct her interview and asked her to hand over her CV. The men allegedly tore up the CV, forcibly took her into a room and confiscated her mobile phone.
