The General Education and Women and Child Development departments should together take steps to issue guidelines in connection with functioning of school counsellors, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has said.

The commission directive comes on a demand raised by school counsellors at a one-day training programme organised by the panel in Kozhikode.

Nearly 200 psychosocial counsellors from Kozhikode and Wayanad attended the training, inaugurated by commission member B. Mohankumar. Commission member Shajesh Bhaskar P. presided. Acting chairperson Cicily Joseph presented the topic.

Clinical psychologists Raseena Kidangel and Raheemuddin P.K. took classes on ways to address mental, emotional, and cyber problems faced by children in these times.
