Iran demands action by US to resume diplomacy - NHKニュース
A senior official in Iran says the US must take action to resume diplomacy. The two sides have been negotiating through mediators to restart ceasefire talks, but they remain far apart.
US President Donald Trump said earlier that he is considering making a decision for additional attacks on Iran.
Tehran has been demanding seven conditions from the US, including ending the maritime blockade and releasing frozen assets.
Ali Bagheri, deputy secretary of Iran's top security body, said on Friday that Tehran would not rely on "paper commitments." He added that there need to be "practical actions" by the US to resume diplomacy.
The statement comes amid new developments in the Strait of Hormuz. State-run media report that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said two oil tankers crashed into mines and burst into flames. It added that they were "attempting to pass through an unauthorized route."
British maritime authorities said they have received seven reports of vessels being damaged in and around the strait since the beginning of November.
