Insider believes Daniel Jones' trade is on AFC team's radar - Colts Wire

As the Baltimore Ravens navigate injuries at the quarterback position, could the Indianapolis Colts' Daniel Jones be a trade target for them?

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler at least thinks the idea of acquiring Jones is on the Ravens' radar.

UPDATE: The Ravens are reportedly trading for Cardinals' QB Jacoby Brissett.

As of now, Baltimore is without both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, leaving UDFA Joe Fagnano to start on Thursday against Jacksonville.

In Fowler's weekly NFL buzz article with Dan Graziano, the two discussed a few options for the Ravens when it comes to trading for a quarterback. Among the players mentioned were Jacoby Brissett, Tyson Bagent, and Jones.

"Some conversations I had early this week made me think the Colts' Daniel Jones is at least on the radar," wrote Fowler.

Although Jones just signed a two-year, $88 million contract extension this offseason, the Colts could still get out of that deal if needed.

"Baltimore could essentially sign him without spending a lot because of his struggles," Fowler added. "Jones' $5.5 million base salary is tradable, and his 2027 guarantees don't trigger until the offseason. He's roughly 11 months post-Achilles tear, so perhaps his play improves."

Adam Schefter also floated the idea of the Colts potentially trading Jones as well.

This season, Jones has struggled with turnovers, throwing nine interceptions while also losing a few fumbles. He's also completed just 60% of his passes and is averaging only 5.8 yards per pass attempt, well below last season's figure of 8.1 yards per throw.

However, Shane Steichen pointed out this week that while Jones has to improve, so does the play around him.
