Inflation Doubles in 4 Months - ProPakistani

Pakistan’s average inflation more than doubled to 10.05 percent during the first four months of FY27 from 4.79 percent last year, a 109.8 percent increase in the inflation rate.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and a research note by Topline Securities, Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation stood at 9.61 percent in October 2026 on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, down from 10.26 percent in September but higher than 6.25 percent in October 2025.

October’s inflation reading also exceeded Bloomberg survey estimates of 9.5 percent.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, inflation increased by 1.1 percent in October, compared with 1.3 percent in September and 1.7 percent in October last year.

Urban inflation stood at 9.5 percent YoY in October, compared with 10.1 percent in September and 6 percent a year earlier. On a MoM basis, urban inflation increased by 0.8 percent.

Rural inflation reached 9.8 percent YoY, down from 10.5 percent in September but higher than 6.6 percent in October 2025. On a monthly basis, rural inflation increased by 1.5 percent.

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, eased to 7.8 percent in October from 8.6 percent in September. However, it remained above October 2025’s reading of 7.5 percent, according to Topline Research.

Meanwhile, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) increased by 8.7 percent YoY, compared with 8.4 percent in September.

Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation accelerated to 13.8 percent YoY in October, up from 13.3 percent in September and just 1.1 percent in October 2025.
