Imran's detained sisters on 48-hour hunger strike

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's cousin Qasim Zaman has claimed that his three sisters - Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi - have gone on hunger strike at Kot Lakhpat Jail, alleging that essential items have not been provided to them despite an order by the Lahore High Court (LHC). Speaking to the media near the Factory checkpoint on Adiala Road, Qasim Zaman said the LHC had taken no action on the sisters' application. He said that after a week had passed, the judge had ordered the authorities on Monday to provide the women with essential items, but since Monday neither had they been allowed a meeting nor had any items been delivered inside the jail. According to Qasim Zaman, Moin Qureshi Sahib had been informed that Imran Khan's three sisters had been on hunger strike for the past 48 hours. He said the sisters had returned the food items after jail staff allegedly behaved rudely with them. He said the family was concerned about the circumstances that had forced the three women to go on hunger strike. He demanded that the three sisters be allowed to meet their family and be given access to a lawyer. He said the Lahore administration would act if the Punjab Cabinet issued directions, adding that the family had so far received no information about whether the essential items had been delivered to the sisters in compliance with the LHC's order.
