IIT Madras extends GATE 2027 registration deadline till October 5

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has extended the registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Candidates can now apply for GATE 2027 without paying a late fee until October 5, 2026. The earlier deadline was September 27, 2026.

The registration deadline has been extended after the exam-conducting body received several requests from candidates seeking more time to complete the application process.

As per the revised schedule, candidates can submit their GATE 2027 applications with a late fee until October 12, 2026. Following the closure of the application window, the correction window will remain open from October 14 to 21, 2026.IMPORTANT DATES

GATE 2027 is open to eligible undergraduate students and graduates from disciplines including engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts and humanities. There is no age limit for appearing in the examination, and candidates can attempt GATE any number of times.

GATE 2027 will be conducted as a computer-based test across 30 papers. Candidates can appear for one paper or choose up to two papers from the permitted combinations.

The application fee is Rs 1,000 for female candidates and candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD categories. For all other candidates, the fee is Rs 2,000.
