The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) began Wildlife Week celebrations on Friday with a drawing competition for students under the theme “Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife.” The week-long celebrations, being held from October 2 to 8, will feature elocution, fancy dress, poster presentation and photography competitions, besides a butterfly workshop and wildlife awareness programmes. Chief Conservator of Forests I. Kasi Viswanadha Raju and IGZP Curator and Divisional Forest Officer Ravindra Dhama released the schedule. Students participated in three categories based on their classes. The competition aimed to promote awareness of wildlife, habitats and conservation. Merit certificates and prizes will be presented to winners at the valedictory ceremony on October 8.
