IFP says its fileding young people ahead of local govt elections - EWN

IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa says the party is bringing more young people on board to represent it in municipalities. 

Hlabisa was speaking during the launch of the party’s local government elections manifesto in Durban on Sunday. 

He said gone are the days when the party relied only on older people, with the ifp now seeking to create a mix of different generations. 

Hlabisa said some of the party’s candidates in various municipalities are in their 20s. 

"I am also equally impressed that any young people are candidates for the 4th of November. The youngest person is 23 years old. Some of them are 25 years old and upwards to 30 years old."

He said young people must take part in shaping the future. 

"The youth of our country must not allow decisions to be made in their absence. You must be in the boardrooms where decisions are made. We will ensure that we give you sufficient capacity, so that when you get a senior position, you are  able to execute it."
