How Collingwood’s Isaac Quaynor gets his fans involved in a very personal game-day ritual
Isaac Quaynor plays for Collingwood in the AFL. Ahead, he discusses his style, including his “absurd” shoe collection, and how he gets his fans involved in his game-day scent choice.
Isaac Quaynor is a fan of dressing up and wearing jewellery.Jake TerreyI’d describe my style as evolving. It’s gone from athlete fashion to streetwear and is now more minimal, clean and classy.
The oldest thing in my wardrobe is a vintage red and black leather racer jacket. It’s definitely a statement piece – I’d love to know who wore it before me.
The most recent additions to my wardrobe are a pair of Julius Marlow “Xavier” loafers, and a pair of retro Nike “Tiempo” sneakers. I’ve got an absurd shoe collection; I really don’t need any more, but it keeps growing.
On a first date, I’d wear black Sweats Collective pleated pants, a nice sweater, leather jacket and Julius Marlow “Omit” loafers. On a plane, it’s a Nike tracksuit and slides. For the red carpet, I’ll wear a Hugo Boss tux. I wore a very cool Boss suit for Glamour on the Grid this year.
My favourite fashion era is the 2000s. I’ve always loved that oversized New York streetwear look - varsity jackets, baggy pants, cropped tees and Timberlands. My favourite designers are Sweats Collective, Melbourne streetwear label Mertra, and Sydney label Vaucluse for a Euro-summer vibe.
My favourite fragrance is Amouage “Guidance 46”; I should gate-keep that, but I’ve got a collection of 300-plus fragrances, so it depends on what day you ask. For my game-day fragrance, I throw control over to my followers on TikTok and they choose one for me.
Three essential items in my wardrobe are a Sweats Collective trackie set, my black Acne Studios jeans and a vintage leather jacket.
I love jewellery; I always have. I wear a tennis bracelet and matching ring and have another classic four-claw tennis bracelet from Cullen Jewellery on the wish list. I also wear a Rolex “Datejust” watch that I got when Collingwood won the premiership in 2023, so that’s very sentimental.
When I was a kid, I loved to wear my dad’s clothes. I’d sneak into his wardrobe when he went to work and dress up in his gear. I was obsessed with an orange Dada Supreme track set – there’s a photo of me, age four, wearing it and his size-13 shoes.
My worst fashion mistakes happened in the skinny-jeans era. They were in at the time but it’s tragic to look back on. I will not wear skinny pants ever again. I’m enjoying the trend of wearing baggy pants with a fitted T-shirt or Henley top.
My favourite fashion icon is rapper Lil Yachty. I love his versatility; he can rock a tracksuit or go super classy in a layered Ralph Lauren look.
Wearing Boss at Glamour on the Grid.Getty ImagesAdvertisementOn a typical working day, I wear a grey tracksuit, runners and a Nocta by Drake puffer to training. Or if I’m doing a shoot, it’s pleated pants, a rugby top from my brand Qamare, and loafers. On Sundays, I’m at home in a Nocta tracksuit, Nike ACG slides and a durag to look after the braids.
