High-rises: NEPRA floats grid-sharing charges

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed new rules for the imposition of grid-sharing charges on high-rise buildings and industrial consumers, seeking public feedback on the proposed amendments to its Consumer Service Manual. Under the proposed amendments, owners of buildings requiring a dedicated transformer with a capacity of more than 500 kVA would be liable to pay grid-sharing charges. The authority has also proposed allowing industrial consumers to obtain multiple electricity connections with a combined load of up to 15 megawatts, while revising the applicable charges for industrial and steel-furnace consumers.
