Several parts of India are likely to experience unsettled weather on Wednesday, October 7, as multiple weather systems interact across the country, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather is being influenced by circulations over southeast Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, northern West Bengal, the southeast Arabian Sea and Kerala, along with a trough extending across parts of central and southern India.

A Western Disturbance is also expected to influence weather over the western Himalayan region.RAIN, SNOW AND THUNDERSTORMS IN NORTH INDIA

The Western Disturbance is likely to bring light to moderate rain and isolated snowfall to parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Thunderstorm activity is also possible over the western Himalayan region. Strong winds of around 50–60 kmph could accompany thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand could see winds reaching 40–50 kmph.

Parts of Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh may receive light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.

The IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh, where the interaction of weather systems could trigger intense spells.

Thunderstorms are also likely over Bihar, while parts of the Northeast could receive heavy rainfall.

The IMD has particularly flagged Nagaland and Manipur for heavy rainfall during this period.

Weather conditions are expected to remain active over the Northeast into October 8, when heavy rainfall is likely over Sikkim and adjoining areas, along with thunderstorms in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.SOUTH INDIA TO SEE RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS

Southern India will also remain under the influence of multiple weather systems.

South interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to receive rainfall, with thunderstorms possible in several areas. Strong surface winds may accompany thunderstorms over parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The IMD has also warned of possible thunderstorms over Lakshadweep.

The weather activity is expected to continue into October 8 and 10, with heavy rain and thunderstorms remaining possible over parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and eastern India.

However, the weather is expected to gradually settle thereafter. No major warning for heavy rainfall or thunderstorms has been issued for October 11 and 12 at present.

The changing weather comes as the southwest monsoon enters its withdrawal phase, while Western Disturbances and emerging low-level circulations begin to influence weather patterns across different parts of the country.- Ends
