Govt to develop Nalgonda as smart city: Minister Komatireddy

Minister for Roads & Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said the government would provide all necessary facilities in Nalgonda Municipal Corporation and develop it as a smart city, with efforts also being made to secure the Best Corporation Award.

The Minister inaugurated two wetting machines, procured at a cost of ₹1.01 crore for sanitation purposes in Nalgonda Municipal Corporation. The machines were inaugurated at Indirabhavan, his camp office in the Nalgonda district headquarters.

Speaking to media persons, Mr Komatireddy said Nalgonda Municipal Corporation had recently received the Swachh Award. He said tenders had been invited at an estimated cost of ₹83 crore to provide 24-hour drinking water supply to residents.

The Minister said 63 km of CC roads had been laid in the corporation using SDF funds and roads and drainage facilities would be developed in the remaining divisions. He added that the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) would be completed within six months.

The Minister said an Outer Ring Road was being constructed around Nalgonda Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹900 crore, along with drainage and STP works.

District Collector B. Chandrasekhar, Nalgonda Mayor Burri Chaitanya Srinivas Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Vamsi Krishna were among those present.
