‘Gem Granite’ Veeramani booked in second POCSO Act case

The Chennai police have registered a fresh case against ‘Gem Granite’ R. Veeramani under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police sources said on Monday (September 28, 2026).

The second case was registered based on a complaint lodged by a woman alleging that her daughter, a minor, was sexually abused by the businessman.

The police booked Veeramani (85) under the POCSO Act and were likely to arrest the granite baron, who is already lodged in the Puzhal prison in connection with a different POCSO Act case.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai police is also investigating the statements given by four other women who claimed they were subjected to sexual abuse by the businessman in the past, the sources said.

Investigators were also probing a complaint lodged by another woman that her daughter who was abused by Veeramani had ended her life. The incident occurred many years ago. The complaint said though she lodged a complaint with the local police then, no action was taken, the sources said.
