Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services has put its technical rescue teams on high alert after the South African Weather Service issued a level four warning.
Severe thunderstorms could trigger flash flooding, damage homes and infrastructure, and disrupt electricity and communications.

"Severe thunderstorms with strong winds, hail, and heavy downpours resulting in flooding and damage of settlement/ localized disruptions to power supply and communications are expected over most parts of Gauteng and the south-western parts of Mpumalanga Highveld."
