Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest Set to Hit Theaters in June 2029 - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Game of Thrones universe is heading to the big screen for the first time. Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2029.

Owen Harris will direct the movie from a screenplay by Oscar-nominated writer Beau Willimon. No cast or production start date has been announced.

The movie reportedly centers on Aegon I Targaryen, the first king of the Targaryen dynasty and the first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

Aegon founded the dynasty and united Westeros with his three dragons, Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes, centuries before the events of the original Game of Thrones series.

Aegon I has never appeared on screen, and it remains unclear who will portray him in the upcoming film.

Aegon's story is also connected to the Targaryen family featured in HBO's two Game of Thrones spinoffs, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The original Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy novels, ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019 and won numerous Emmy Awards.

Harris is an executive producer on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and directed several episodes of its first season. His other credits include Black Mirror, the 2019 The Twilight Zone remake and Brave New World.

Willimon previously served as the showrunner of Netflix's House of Cards and worked as a writer on Disney+'s Star Warsseries Andor.

While waiting for Aegon's Conquest, fans can continue following the Game of Thrones universe on HBO. House of the Dragon will return for a fourth season, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to return for Season 2.
