French man moves from Paris to Mumbai, shares 3 things nobody warned him about
A 23-year-old French man who moved from Paris to Mumbai has shared his experience of adjusting to life in the bustling Indian city, listing three things that caught him off guard and one surprising reason he has started loving it.
Nico, who relocated to Mumbai for a new job of late, shared a video documenting his move from France to India.
“3 things nobody warned me about before moving from Paris to Mumbai,” read the caption of his post.
Nico explained that one of the biggest adjustments was losing his sense of distance, as even a five-kilometre journey could mean something entirely different in Mumbai.
He had also started planning his days around traffic, the heat, chai and finding good food. Another major change, he noted, was realising that his old definition of a normal life no longer applied.
However, there was one more thing he had not anticipated: actually falling in love with the city.
“I’m 23, moved 7,000 km from Paris to Mumbai, started a new job, met an entirely new group of people and basically had to figure out a new life from scratch,” he said.
Three weeks into his move, Nico said he was still getting lost, learning Hindi and discovering new places every week. Despite occasionally wondering how he had ended up in Mumbai, he said the experience was part of the fun.
“Sometimes the best decision is the one that makes absolutely no sense when you explain it to everyone back home,” he added.
Nico's Instagram account features several videos of him exploring Mumbai and experiencing its culture. From witnessing Ganesh Visarjan celebrations to enjoying the sea and exploring different parts of the city, his posts offer glimpses into his life as a French newcomer navigating Mumbai.
