Foreign woman gang-rape case: Centre moved to place names of suspects on PNIL
LAHORE: The Lahore Police have moved a request to federal authorities to place the names of three prime suspects, who had allegedly gang-raped a young foreign woman two days ago, on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).
The 20-year-old victim had traveled to Pakistan for business purposes and was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a rented flat of a private housing society located near Raiwind on the night between Friday and Saturday. It was the second such case in which a foreign woman was reportedly gang-raped in the Defence C police station area during the last four months.
Talking about the recent incident, a police official said that the suspects had escaped from Lahore soon after the sexual assault and the police had traced one of the suspectβs location in Sialkot city.
He said the police also took two close relatives and one domestic servant of one of the prime suspects into custody.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said that all the three suspects had been identified and police teams were working to track them down and arrest them. He said the case was being investigated jointly by the Crime Control Department (CCD), operations and investigation wings. The police had taken the vehicle allegedly used in the incident into custody, he added.
Another police official said that the Cantt Division SP Investigation Asim Iftikhar was heading the joint police teams working on the case.
