Forbes Magazine Reports Republican Midterm Election Loss Causes Trump’s Net Worth to Drop by $168 Million - Thairath English
Shares of Trump Media, owner of the Truth Social platform, plummeted to an all-time low following the Democratic Party's sweeping victory in the midterm elections, causing Donald Trump's net worth to decline by over $168 million.
On 5 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Forbes magazine reported that U.S. President Donald Trump lost about $168 million in personal net worth, or over 2.5% of his total wealth, on Wednesday. This followed a nearly 25% drop in shares of Trump Media & Technology Group, owner of the Truth Social platform, after Democrats won the midterm elections and gained majority control of both U.S. congressional chambers.
The report stated that Trump Media shares fell to an intraday record low of $4.46 before closing at $4.49, down 24.5% from the previous day. The stock continued its decline from the previous week, when it had dropped to a prior low of $5.40. Wednesday's trading marked a more than 66% decrease in the stock price since early 2026, reflecting the company's challenging situation this year.
Forbes estimated Trump's net worth at about $6.4 billion, mostly from real estate holdings, ranking him 623rd among the world’s billionaires. Additionally, the company has faced losses, and its main service, the Truth Social platform, has seen a decrease in visitors. The Washington Post, citing data from digital analytics firm Similarweb, reported that website traffic fell 30% in September compared to the same period last year.
