A fire broke out at a four-storey commercial building housing a mobile accessories shop in Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh, in the early hours of Friday (November 6, 2026).
According to DCP (Central Delhi) Rohit Rajbir Singh, the fire, reported at 1.28 a.m., originated in a ground-floor shop where mobile batteries were stored before spreading to all four floors.
Around 20–25 fire tenders, three CAT ambulances and two PCR vehicles were rushed to the spot. The blaze has since been doused, with no casualties or injuries reported so far.
Preliminary findings suggest that overheating or overcharging of batteries could have triggered the fire.
The exact cause will be ascertained after reports from the Fire Department and Electrical Inspector, while a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team will examine the building for other combustible materials.
A structural safety assessment/certificate will also be obtained from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to rule out any risk to human life.
