File compliance report over loud music during Ganesh idol procession, immersion: HC to police

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday noted that instances of playing loud sound systems while transporting Ganesh idols for immersion were disturbing people.

“Prima facie, the noise pollution appears to be loud and continuing,” the judge said while hearing a contempt of court petition pertaining to violation of guidelines relating to the practice of Ganesh festivities passed by the HC in 2025. The judge made it clear the order relating to Ganesh festivities passed by the HC on August 25 last year was applicable throughout the State and to the current year as well.

The noise pollution created by loud music along the immersion route was causing trouble for the elderly and those suffering from ailments. The organisers were not complying with the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules-2000, the judge said. The judge directed the Home Secretary to file a compliance report on Ganesh idol immersion in and around Hyderabad by Thursday.
