Express's 'Ranjish' catches viewers' fancy

Express Entertainment's newly launched drama 'Ranjish' has begun its journey on television, with three episodes on aired. The family drama revolves around love, marriage, family bonds and the misunderstandings that can gradually create distance between people who are otherwise close. The story centres on Farhad, played by Mohib Mirza, a married man who runs a fashion boutique and shares a loving relationship with his wife, Muattar, played by Hina Choudhry. Farhad is shown as a caring husband who tries to support his wife, but his married life becomes complicated because of tensions within the family. Mohib Mirza started off as a theatre actor in 1999. He also won the award in Best Supporting Actor category at the International Filmmaker Film Festival held in England. In 'Ranjish', at the centre of this conflict is Farhad's mother, Ruqaiya, played by Sakina Sammo. While she maintains a pleasant image in front of others, her behaviour towards her daughter-in-law inside the house is considerably different. Her taunts, complaints and treatment of Muattar gradually become a source of tension between the couple. The situation is familiar to many viewers who may recognise the dynamics of households where disagreements between a 'Saas' 'Bahu' eventually place the husband in an uncomfortable position. Farhad finds himself caught between his mother's complaints and his wife's grievances, leaving him increasingly puzzled about how to maintain peace between the two relationships. Muattar, meanwhile, is portrayed as someone who largely remains patient despite the circumstances. Her attempts to deal with the situation without constantly escalating the conflict add another layer to Farhad's dilemma. As the story progresses, the pressure on him appears to come not only from his marriage but also from his responsibilities towards the wider family. The drama expands beyond the central couple, bringing in a number of characters from both families, including siblings and other relatives. Their relationships and individual perspectives are expected to add further complications to the unfolding story.
