Ellen DeGeneres makes huge donation after friend and producer's death - Geo News
The sudden death of Matthew Wright has shocked everyone who knew and worked with him.
The former producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show died at the age of 52 on October 30 in Los Angeles.
His family has now shared that he died peacefully in his sleep, making the news even harder for those close to him to accept.
Wright's family also shared a heartfelt message about him on a fundraising page set up after his death. They remembered him as a loving person who brought happiness into people's lives and made every moment special.
The page, however, has raised more than $94,000, with Ellen DeGeneres giving $5,000 to support the family.
DeGeneres was also left heartbroken by the news. In an emotional video, she broke down while talking about her former colleague, who spent 16 years working on her show.
She remembered how funny and kind he was and said he could always make her laugh.
She also revealed that they were getting ready to work together again on a new project. She spoke about his close friendship with Stephen "tWitch" Boss and said she hoped they were now together, dancing and laughing.
Fellow producer Andy Lassner said he had seen Wright just hours before his death.
