Electoral Court dismisses MK Party's bid to set aside 2024 election results - EWN

The Electoral Court has dismissed an application by the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MK) challenging the integrity and reliability of the Electoral Commission's digital votes capturing and reporting the system.

The party alleged that it was robbed of votes during the 2024 national and provincial polls during a blackout of the leaderboard at the national results operations centre during the vote count.

But the court on Friday held that the MKP’s application to review the declaration of results was not competent in law.

It said that the MKP’s version put to the court was based on inferences, and it had not demonstrated that the Electoral Commission’s results system lacked integrity.

The MKP alleged that when the leader board and dashboard went blank and displayed zero results for almost two hours, it allowed for the manipulation of results.
