The Governing Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Babatola as the seventh substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Council for a five-year term. Babatola was, until his appointment as Registrar, a Deputy Registrar at the university. The Deputy Registrar and Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, EKSU, Mayowa Ogunlola, said the approval was given at the Council’s regular meeting held on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Ogunlola said in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Thursday evening that, “the appointment takes effect from Monday, 5th October, 2026. “We wish Dr Jadesola Babatola a remarkable and successful tenure as Registrar and Secretary to the Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti”. He obtained an M.Sc. degree in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and a PhD in History and International Studies from EKSU in 2019. The new Registrar, a former Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, had served as Commissioner in the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board; Registrar and Secretary to Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo (2017–2018); Registrar and Secretary to Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State (2018–2021); and Registrar and Secretary to Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo (2021–2025). The statement added, “Dr Babatola is a member of several professional bodies including Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management; Fellow, the Chartered Institute of Administration; Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants; Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration; Full Member, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management; Member, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators; Member, Association of University Administrators (UK); and Associate, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators among others. “He carved a niche for himself as an historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager. He had a brief stay in the private sector before joining the services of EKSU as an Administrative Officer One in 2001,” Ogunlola stated. Abiodun Nejo
