Eduardo Bolsonaro Threatens Retaliation against Diplomats Who "Sabotaged" His Father's Administration If Flávio Is Elected - Folha de S.Paulo
In a video posted on Wednesday (30), former congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro promised to carry out "a cleanout" at Brazil’s Foreign Ministry if his brother, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), wins the election. He said he had "mapped out" the ambassadors who moved in and out of posts under the Lula administration and that he would be "on the heels" of officials who "sabotaged" his father Jair Bolsonaro’s administration.
"So, my dear Foreign Ministry official, if you helped sabotage the Bolsonaro administration, you should really be worried, because I’ll be on your heels," Eduardo said. He promised retaliation against Brazil’s ambassador to Spain after playing audio of an alleged message from a diplomat offering to help find a school for the children of Lulinha, who moved to Madrid in 2025. The post was held at the time by Orlando Ribeiro; the current ambassador is Luiz Alberto Figueiredo.
Eduardo has lived in the U.S. since March 2025, lost his congressional seat in December due to excessive absences and was sentenced by the Supreme Court in June to four years and two months in prison for coercion in the course of legal proceedings. If Flávio wins, Eduardo is seen as having enough influence to head the Foreign Ministry, although an alternative would be the Brazilian Embassy in Washington.
