Eagles face an early decision about Hollywood Brown's offensive role - Eagles Wire

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a one-year, $6.5 million deal this past offseason, the expectation was that the speedy receiver would provide immediate juice to a room that had just lost A.J. Brown. Instead, through one week of the 2026 season, Brown hasn't seen the field at all.

Brown didn't hide his disappointment following Philadelphia's Week 1 win over Washington, telling reporters there had been 'no conversations' about his snap count heading into the game. "I just come to work," Brown said, "and when my opportunity comes, be ready for it."

When asked if he expected more involvement going forward, Brown was noncommittal: "That I don't know. I just got to come to work." Sirianni didn't dispute that Brown deserved more playing time.

“Hollywood could obviously help us,” Sirianni said on Monday. “We obviously want to get him into the football game because his speed is real. It just didn’t work out that way. But we know that Hollywood can help us win football games, and his speed is real, and, quite frankly, just from my end, we want to get him into the football game, right?”

On whether head coach Nick Sirianni's postgame comments offered any reassurance, Brown didn't soften his answer: "Nah, no, it don't. But I'm not dwelling on it. I'm ready for next week."

The situation is notable given the context of Philadelphia's receiver room. After trading away A.J. Brown and letting Jahan Dotson walk in free agency, Howie Roseman brought in Hollywood Brown as a depth piece with the upside to start if needed. As rookie WR Makai Lemon gets adjusted to the NFL, many expected Brown to a play a pivotal role on offense.

For now, Brown's frustration isn't a distraction, but it could quickly develop into a trade request if he's not contrinuting soon.
